This project involved the 3D documentation of the 18th-century church of Saint George in Achelia, Paphos, commissioned by artist Theodoulos Polyviou for his installation SCREEN.
SCREEN is a multimedia intervention digitally reanimating the church’s iconostasis within a broader audiovisual context. The installation was exhibited at Berlin’s Bode Museum from 30 November 2023 to 3 March 2024, creating an immersive experience that connects history, ritual, and spatial narrative.
The 3D Survey covered not only the iconostasis but also the church’s interior and exterior architecture. Using terrestrial laser scanning (TLS), a detailed digital record was produced to support both artistic reinterpretation and future conservation efforts. The deliverables included a highly accurate 3D point cloud model as well as a mesh model, both enabling detailed visualization and interaction.
Working with Theodoulos Polyviou and Loukis Menelaou was a highly rewarding experience — their collaborative spirit greatly enriched the project !
